It is a sad day indeed... Bud and I spoke when we attended the same airshows and fly ins ... He was a great machinist. His packages looked nice and clean and he was able to tuck 10 lbs of stuff in a 5 lb bucket... My only concern with his set ups was the fact he would place critical items, ie coolers, oil and fuel lines, mounts and other stuff very close to the exhaust system... Look through the geareddrive web site and study the pictures of some of the installs. Radiant heat is something a builder has to address honestly... Godspeed Bud and Phyllis......

This is the second time he was behind the helm of a converted LS1 engine that caught fire in flight on him... Thats not to say the auto-conversion concept is at fault, but there may be something to the oil or fuel systems that needs to be looked at (Im presuming this is a FWF type package)...
