Thank you for your info everyone. Back pressure never came to mind when I started to figure out my return line. Like I mentioned previously, I am going with a 3/8 out and return. Now I need some advice as to where to weld the return flange on the side of the tank. On the upper part, lower part or it does not matter.

Raymond, I tried a 1/4" return line and with the regulator backed off completely it had 6 #'s of pressure, way to much for the Weber 48 Carb I have, so I had to go to 5/16", I would have went to 3/8 th's but didn't room at the tank.  JohnD

I am about to put the fuel tank in my first wing. I have to weld a flange on it for the fuel return line. Anyone can tell me if a 1/4" fuel return line is large enough ????
