Was there a gasket between frt hsg and frt cover ??............It seems it is optional...........Racers running 100+ psi
oil pressure found the front covers flexed leading to "O" ring blowout so started leaving the gasket out..........With
or without the gasket the plastic?teflon ring and a "O"ring are necessary..............."O" ring was either left out of
your engine or fell out during assembly or when you removed front cover.............Check your oil sump well !!..........
Did you remove engine for this work or are you doing this with it horizontal in the plane ??...............

Thanks for the info Kelly; no o-ring to be found; just the plastic washer. Does that mean the prior owner was running w/reduced oil pressure? I'll review the web site data; haven't read that section for quite some time.
