That is part of the oil gallery seal between the front side housing and the front cover................The plastic ring is a support for
an "O" ring that fits in the inside of it...........If there was no "O" ring then it was improperly installed..............Replace both rings
when you go back together...........Read the link to "Mazdatrix" about front cover gaskets and the oil seal difference between
the 86-88 and 89-91 front side housings..........Be sure to purchase the proper gasket and "O" ring seal for your engine.........

Subject: [FlyRotary] Finally pulled front cover
I finally had some time so pulled my front cover off to inspect the stack of brg's, spacers, etc, etc. It all looks okay as near as I can tell except there is a small plastic washer that is slightly oblong. Is this okay?
