Doug, I don't know if it was me you read about, but I made a spacer to put = the pick up tube back down to the bottom of the pan, both to pick up the oil = as designed, and to support the pick up tube. Otherwise, it would not clear = the plate of the mount, and it would be 1/2" off the bottom of the pan, unsupported. I guess I don't know if it was necessary from an oil stand point, but = it was necessary to get the engine on the plate. If it was someone else you read about (and there are most likely others = that have done it) then disregard all the above. ;) Ben --- On Fri, 1/14/11, dlomheim@aol.com wrote: > From: dlomheim@aol.com > Subject: [FlyRotary] Question for Lynn... > To: "Rotary motors in aircraft" > Date: Friday, January 14, 2011, 3:39 PM > Hey Lynn; I recently read that one > builder had an insert machined to be added to his oil pickup > tube to take up the space created by using a bed type mount > sandwhiched between the pan and block.=A0 My question is: > is this really necessary?=A0 Thanks for your insights as > always!=A0=A0=A0Doug=20 > Sent on the Sprint=AE Now Network from my BlackBerry=AE=20 > -- > Homepage:=A0 http://www.flyrotary.com/ > Archive and UnSub:=A0=A0=A0http://mail.lancaironline.net:81/lists/flyrotary/List.html= >=20 -- Homepage: http://www.flyrotary.com/ Archive and UnSub: http://mail.lancaironline.net:81/lists/flyrotary/List.html
