How does the prime in step 7 function if the injectors are not turned on until step 8?

2.2 Engine Start
1. Select FUEL ON (Push).
2. Select MASTER and ALTERNATOR switches ON.
3. Check VOLTMETER, if not ¡°in the green¡± do not proceed. Charge battery until voltmeter indication ©ø 13 Volts.
4. Turn IGNITION key to ON, one notch to the right.
5. Turn FUEL PUMP 1 ON, switch UP.
6. Set EMS controller to Mode 0.
7. Depress Store button 3-4 times to prime the engine.
8. Set INJECTORS primary and secondary ON.
9. Set throttle to closed position.
10. Activate BRAKES, left and right.
11. Check visual clearance and give audible warning.
12. Engage starter, start switch up until engine starts.
13. Check alternator, no-charge light is OFF
14. Check oil pressure >60 PSI.
2.3 Pre-flight / Takeoff
1. Connect SEATBELTS, lap and shoulder harnesses.
2. Advance THROTTLE to set engine for 2400 RPM.
3. Check/set FUEL PUMPS 1-ON/2-OFF; 2-ON/1-OFF; BOTH-ON.
4. Warm engine until WATER temp is indicating ¡Ã 130 F.
5. Check both ignition CONTROLLERs toggle switch A to B - Engine must operate on A&B or no take-off. B Controller: perform ignition coil check; note slight rpm drop. A Controller: return toggle switch back to A for take-off.
6. Check MIXTURE knob function; set to Take-Off position.
7. Check STAGING; advance rpm up through staging point and back down.
8. Check inJECTORS: Primary-Only, Secondary-Only; BOTH.

My injectors are all the same size. When I disable the secondary, I think it works as it should. It is when I disable the primary that I am concerned about. I haven¡¯t tried enriching the mixture as Ed suggested. I will try that next time I run the engine to see if that is a factor. What is the best/most popular engine run up check to do with our rotary engines before take off? Does anybody have a check list that they would like to share?? Bill B |
