Doug, glad you mentioned the left hand drills, I worked with a mechanic at one time who I remembered?? had a set of left hand drills, but my recollector isn't what it once was, so there was some doubt in my mind about their existence. He used them as you mentioned to drill holes for easyouts. JohnD

If having to resort to the "drill / easy out" method I have found that by using a left hand drill bit (to make the hole for the easy out); the stuck bolt will sometimes back itself out while drilling the hole...
