We can remove the alternator bump as well if not needed.
There is room for further lightening on the backside as well, the casting
ribs are there for metal flow not strength.
You'll need a large metal cutting bandsaw, air die grinder, rotary burrs, files etc.
This was our first attempt, we have another one to do for our backup
motor.
BTW, use a Renesis metal front
cover gasket, it requires a couple of simple mods but has proven to work
better than the fiber gasket.
You'll need (5) #93275A034 studs from M-Carr and a 8x1.25mm helicoil
kit for the lower center hole, this tab overlaps the 13B front cover
(no hole in iron there).
Some front irons will need a tap drill, tap and bottoming tap for
8x1.25mm for the hole on the far left, the stud on the 13B is about
1/4" lower but there is a cast in boss for a stud in the correct position
as used on the Cosmo and 20B.
You'd mount the pump and use it as a drill guide, use the largest
drill you have that fits to get a centered pilot or a transfer punch.
Then drill with the tap drill.
