With some alu welding coming up (radiators, intake manifold, engine mount plate) I'm considering purchase of a  welder.

What would you recomend? TIG, MIG, cost?

Hi Finn,

FWIW, last summer, I bought the Miller Dynasty 200DX ( http://www.millerwelds.com/products/tig/dynasty_200/ )

I'll be using it a whole lot more in the next few weeks, but so far, it's been great.  The inverter machines are a lot smaller, and lighter than the transformer types, and this one will run on 110 or 220, single, or 3 phase.  I don't remember the specifics, but running on 110 will require a pretty beefy circuit.  The inverter machines are also quite a bit more expensive.  I think I paid around $3500 for the machine, contractors kit (torch, stick holder, ground cable, hoses, regulator, etc), remote foot pedal, argon, and auto darkening helmet.

Not cheap, but a nice machine, with lots of advantages.

Rusty (I don't mind buying tools)
