The coolant flows around to cool the hot side (spark plug side) first and then warms the cool side, so as to heat the block evenly (as much as possible), otherwise it might bend like a banana.
So the short answer is NO!

Guys,

Thanks for all of the input on the alternator.  I think I found a home for
the original.

My engine compatment and exhaust ejector have caused me to possibly use an
stand alone Toyota water pump.  I found a block that permits connection to
the front housing water passages originally located behind the factory water
pump.  The bottom line is can I reverse the coolant flow through the block
without any ill effects?  Thanks for any help.
