but they have them on closeout for $20.00 plus UPS............They have 9 of them left after

Jeff,
I bought a pair of single vee pulleys from Canton Racing (http://www.cantonracing.com/). I used their p/n 75-209 for the Mitsubishi 15mm shaft alternator ($38.40/ea). It is black hard anodized aluminum. I have since switched to serpentine pulleys, so I don't need it any longer. So, if you're interested, contact me off line.

Ed, On the same subject, how many hours are you getting out of your alternator belts?
I’ve got about 50 hours on mine and am seeing black powder on the top cowling underside and the same on the belts.
And where can I get a 4” diameter dual-groove pulley for the rotary?
I bought one from Racing Beat but it is only about 2.75-3” diameter … would like to slow my alternator more.

No, Joe, I did not. I had not realized at the time (boy, have I gained an education messing with this alternative engine stuff {:>)) that simply putting a circuit breaker in the field coil line would not necessarily turn off the alternator when it was pulled. I have verified that pulling the CB after the alternator is turning does NOT turn it off - at least not mine. But, I never had an automobile alternator ever run away voltage wise (all have simply quite producing adequate voltage), so decided to leave well enough alone.
I figured my modifications might reduce reliability and never the kind of problem most feared in aircraft usage, so have not altered/modified it. But, other's have. It would be interesting to take a survey and find out how many on the list have or have not modified their
alternators.

Thanks for the input. Did you modify it at all to remove the regulator or provide for disabling the field?

Joe, I still fly with the old standard Rx-7 alternator - have been ever since I launched in 1998 - never failed so I'm still hauling around about

lbs more weight that I need to. So can't offer you any light weight solutions. But, there are others that have done research on light weight alternators whom I'm certain will offer suggestions.
