Both my standard alternators are modified and run through the B&C regulators which has the crowbar protection built in. The are pricy.

It is part of the duel alt - duel bat Z-14 drawings by Bob Knuckles.

Mine's a stock 60A unit with stock pully and a crowbar.
No problems so far

Well, I’m in the survey as NOT MODIFIED.

Ed, On the same subject, how many hours are you getting out of your alternator belts?

I’ve got about 50 hours on mine and am seeing black powder on the top cowling underside and the same on the belts.

And where can I get a 4” diameter dual-groove pulley for the rotary?

I bought one from Racing Beat but it is only about 2.75-3” diameter … would like to slow my alternator more.
