John,

I had heard about a Marcotte seal failure, but didn't hear the details.  And
yes, I definitely plan to put a mechanical fastener which will mechanically
capture the seal.  While I can't recommend this fix to everyone, you can bet
that I won't be riding in any other a/c that hasn't had this mod done to the
gearbox.
