The 13BREW has a trigger wheel on the main pulley, and crank angle sensor mounted on the front engine cover. The trigger wheel has one notch, and there is an index mark cast into the front cover just above the pulley. I put the timing light to the engine at 1400 RPM( it was the lowest that I can get a reliably smooth idle) and found that the mark was showing ignition for the leading plug at about 10 degrees before the notch lined up with the wheel. I have a factory 1993 RX-7 manual, but it does not tell me where these marks line up in relation to TDC. Do you know? I imagine the Renesis has the same ignition setup. I'm in the process of turning my airplane from an airborne gas chamber into a safe airplane by replacing the SS flex tube with either Inconel, or 321 stainless .After I get the exhaust switched over, tuning and testing will resume. But first I want to be sure about the ignition timing. I also got about 1 1/2 hours of RV time today, in both the RV-8 and RV-7. Can't wait until I get some time in the -4.
