The mount that Fred made is absolutely beautiful !!! Heck, even the crate was a work of art, and I almost hated to break it up for the trash. This may well be the strongest RV-3 mount ever made. I can't stress how happy I am with the mount, and all my dealings with Fred. If you don't mind trading a reasonable sum of money for a top quality mount, give Conversion Concepts a call, and you won't be sorry. http://conversionconcepts.com/ (Hmmm, I wonder who's mount is on the home page ). Thanks Fred ! Now that I have a mount, I've done some measurements regarding the turbo. It fits the mount perfectly, but looks like it will cause a huge, unsightly bulge in the cowl. This realization, coupled with the fact that my "low mileage" turbo has about the maximum allowable shaft play, is making me think about dropping the turbo, and going back to plan A. Originally, I planned a high compression, ported engine from Bruce, with about 230 HP available at 7500 rpm. I'm starting to lean toward pulling my new low compression engine apart, and modifying it for higher compression, and porting. I can make as much power as I was planning with the turbo, but at a much reduced weight. I'd have to turn the prop at about 3500 rpm, but that's doable. Nothing like radically changing directions again. This is where Mike Wills can start to get some revenge for all the times I've dogged him about his slow progress :-) Rusty Turbo (probably not) 13B powered RV-3... Be Afraid :-) 1993 RX-7 R1...
