The exhaust pipe expander most likely will work, Rusty - especially on that thin walled SS.  I have found that the 304 SS is more ductile than the mild steel to work and I have used expanders to swag the thin wall tubing.  I generally hook up a air impact wrench to the expander and let the impacing force force the tube wider.

And 321 is even more ductile than 304, wonderful stuff to work with and weld.  I use the pipe expander & impact wrench trick on .035 & .049.  Works great depending on quality of hardware in expanders.  The threads get galled up pretty quick on cheepies.

Thanks to you both.  Finally, something might work out right :-)   One benefit to ordering this stuff from some place other than Spruce, is that I can probably get them to throw in some small scrap pieces for welding, and expansion practice.

Cheers,

Rusty
