Thanks, Ed, Rusty, John and everyone. I think I will try to find the hosebarb press fitting that originally goes there, as I would like to put a heater core in for keeping our feet warm. Now, I have to ask the inevitable.....If the water goes out of this hole to the heater core, where might the returning water from the heater core return to the engine? I promise....no more questions for tonight. (I can't make any promises about tommorrow, however). Paul sure glad I didn't decide to install a turbine, Conner
Paul, all the coolant returns merge near the lower water pump port. I use the heater port plumbed to a little cabin heater. I drilled a 1/2" hole in the forward side of the lower leg of the water pump, and had a welder weld a 1/2" NPT aluminum half-coupler to the leg. You can get those from McMaster-Carr. Insert a 1/2" NPT to AN-10 adaptor.
If I were you, I would somehow tap that heater port hole in the engine and insert a fitting that adapts it to AN-10. I still have a short 4" piece of 5/8" automotive heater hose that adapts that heater port hose bung to AN-10, but I would prefer to eliminate the hose altogether. The cabin heater lines from the engine to bulkhead AN10 fittings on the firewall are braided hose. The heater lines that run all the way forward inside my fuselage to a small rad and then return to the firewall are 5/8" aluminum tubing.
