I suspect that with only half the coolant, and only one core, it might be hard to cool even at cruise. John

 
You may very well be correct, but I won't really know until I try it.  I imagine that one pump would be on all the time, and the second would be on a thermostat of some type, either the Davies Craig controller, or just an on/off type.  I am pretty sure that one pump/core would maintain a safe cruise power setting, so once I get beyond the initial climb period, it should provide all the backup I need.  
 
While it would be nice to have a true flow rate indicator, I would settle for a flow switch that just indicates that there is flow of some minimal amount.  Has anyone seen such a thing?  I'm thinking this would be a good "pump fail" indicator.
