Steve, thinking some more about your problem, the fact that your engine
sparks on the first attempt but fails or is much weaker on subsequent
attempt once again would indicate there is barely enough juice left to fire
the spark on the first rev, but then the drain has pulled your voltage at
the EC2 or spark coil down sufficient that it is unable to fire on the
second round.

So either that or as Tracy Crook indicated, the juice is too low to maintain
the required 150 rpm for two prop revolutions.  Both conditions could exist
due to low voltage.

Take your voltmeter and attach it to the DC power lead to your EC2 and see
how much it drops  under cranking conditions.

Steve, where is your battery located?  Engine compartment or nose??
Long leads can drop a lot of voltage under cranking current.  New engine may
have  higher compression and  may take more juice than previous engine to
turn it over fast enough.  The fact that your old engine was also hard to
start makes me wonder.

That's interesting.  I had not made any changes to mode 8, but it is
certainly easy enough to reset it to default.
