Jeff, I presume you didn’t fly the
C-172 I flew – the flaps were manual {:>). But, I liked the
manual option so well, that is what I installed in my Rv-6A. I like the
immediate response, I know exactly what position the flap is in. I can
unload all the flaps in a fraction of a second or deploy them the same.
Oh, It also keeps my right arm exercised

Subject: [FlyRotary] Flap Control?
Hello All,
I am probably a little off-topic here, but
you guys provide such great information that I thought I’d run this one past
you.
I’m looking for a flap controller
for an RV-7 that mimics the good-old C-172 flap controller.
I like the C-172 system because it:
- does
not require the pilot to hold the switch until the flaps are in the
desired position
- give
a visual indication of both the selected position and the actual flap
position
- allows
the pilot to select any flap position, no matter what the current flap
position is
I don’t like the C-172 system
because it:
- is
full of speedometer cables and limit switches
Does anyone know of any after-market
devices that accomplish these goals? After Googleing for a while I found
a few, but none that meet these criteria. Perhaps I overlooked
something…
As always, any suggestions are much
appreciated,
-Jeff
