I am looking toward a change in plans (due to recent cancer scare) and was wondering if anyone has seen the Ligeti Stratos. I have been in touch with the Australian designer (Ron Ligeti) who is an Aviation Engineer. He is currently trying to get his design up and running after the open source approach was a failure. Seems like he may now have found a financial backer.

The Stratos was originally designed and built by his father Charles (also an Engineer) who died in a more radical design ( Not the Stratos). Naturally I have been guiding him toward the rotary engine. With the current Ultralight category his power needs are low and the smaller rotary go-cart engine is sufficient for that - however the beauty of his design is that it is scalable and I am looking for something that meets the Light Sport Category.

With a bit of luck The single Mazda rotary will fill the bill - perhaps even a single rotary 16X.

There are plenty of pages on the Web, just enter Ligeti Stratos.
