It is octagon in shape. I've always wondered what that was too. I don't think mine has any wires though. Item #4 is a plug on the lower tube of the water pump. I thought this might go to the turbo, if one were installed? That looks like a water return port of some kind. As you guessed, it may have been used for the turbo water return. For you, it would make a dandy place to return your heater line if you use a standard heater core. Item #5 Is a plug on the upper section of the water pump, next to the water temp sensor. (I actually figured out and wired the water temp sensor, all by myself). This would be water out to something. It may have been to the turbo, or AST, or ??? Item #6 is another sender of some type, with two wires coming out of it. No idea about this, and I can't see where it actually comes from in the picture. It almost looks aftermarket?
