The attached picture shows how I modified a 1986 NA oil metering pump to use a separate 2 cycle oil reservoir.  The oil usage averages out to between 3/4 and 1 ounce of oil per gallon of fuel.  The modification has worked for over 100 hours so far without problems.

Just another data point.

Or, you can modify the front cover to use any 2 cycle oil from a bottle on the fire wall, and leave the stock "Oil Metering Pump" in operation.

Plug the OMP oil supply gallery where it mates with the front iron.

Drill open the end of the lateral gallery across the front of the cover on the oil out side of the cover.

TIG weld a dash 4 male over the hole.

Supply 2 cycle oil via a dash 4 AN hose from the bottle.

To disable the early OMPs, just remove the C clip and slid off the drivin gear. Store in a safe place. No need to plug anything.

The OMP can be reactivated any time by reinstalling the gear and clip.
