Tracy, your temperature cutoff makes me feel a
little better. Yesterday I checked the crankcase and there was no sign of
glycol odor or glycol. I ran the engine .2th's hour taxing trying to get
used to the not having a steerable nose wheel, the brakes were considerable
cooler. OAT was at 78, with cowling off and moving the WT was 165
degrees.
On Ed's question of the air - fuel ratio, I have a
meter and sensor from Edelbrock and with the 1:15 light on, the engine runs
the best, as for the accuracy of the instrument, who knows.
At one time a while back there was much discussion
on prop's, the prop I have is a Fred Felix bi-cambered of 68 x 70, as I recall
it was mentioned about prop stall, would I be experiencing this, as the engine
will go from idle to 5,000 rpm almost instantly, sure is different than the ole
Lycoming in the Piper Colt.
The Marcotte re-drive has the filler plug at a
level where nearly 90 % of the ring and pinion is submerged in 80 hypoid.
The surplus grease was dispelled out the vent on the overflow bottle and ran
down the firewall, very small amount of 80w makes awful big mess.
