If you clean both mating surfaces with alkohol and be careful not to get any oil or grease on them prior to applying the permatex, I think you'll find it very hard to pry them apart later and have an oil-leak-free seal. No big pressure needed from the oil pan bolts, if you tighten them in a round-robin manner, slowly enough to let the permatex squeeze out.

I’ve got an oil leak between the oil pan and aluminum plate that engine block is sitting on.

Root-cause may be one stripped thread boss in the aluminum front cover, right next to exposed tension bolt … any advice for internal thread fixing … hopefully I can do this without having to remove engine, aluminum sub-plate, etc, etc.

Another possible cause is silicone-only used to seal the oil pan … I ordered an oil pan gasket for re-installation.

It happens from time to time, Greg. A topic gets going and everybody hops in with their 0.02 worth and after we beat it to death (perhaps a couple of times), exhaustion sets in until we’ve recovered our breath (or interest) {:>). After a few days, someone will post an interesting (or controversial) topic and away we will go again.
