Randy, regarding the dip stick, try rotating it a 90 degrees at a time. They are never straight and may be contacting the sides of the pan. Jerry

1) Can I cut off the ear shown in left photo to gain more clearance under cowling. It looks like an old alternator mounting brkt.
2) Need to shorten the oil filler. How is this one removed and can it be threaded for a much shorter cap or easier to plug and add oil somewhere else.
3) And last, I cannot remove the dip stick. Do I need to remove the pan. It feels like there is something hanging on the other end
