By remotely locating the turbo (as much as is possible in an aircraft cowl), you have a better chance of keeping the stress and heat from the Turbo. It may even be possible to locate the turbo and exhaust in a tunnel under the fuselage, to keep drag down. Also it is suggested insufficient back pressure on the turbo wheel may allow over spinning in thinner air (at altitude). If you could address these 3 issues, you would be in a better position for Turbo longevity. Just a suggestion! George (down under)
