Is there a reason why we can't eliminate the barrel all = together and modify (putty) the end housings directly (as the video = seems to show)? Thanks for the info. Doug Lomheim RV-9"R" =20 Doug, when I elminated the barrel valve, I simply removed it and = used a combination of an epoxy "stick" (which when mixed, gives you = epoxy about the consistency of dough) to fill in most of the end of the = cavity and shaped it so as to have good airflow into the port. I think = mixed some JB WELD and covered the dough epoxy and used Lacqure thinner = to smooth the surface. It worked just fine for over 160 hours until I = replaced the six port engine with a four port. Ed Anderson RV-6A N494BW Rotary Powered Matthews, NC eanderson@carolina.rr.com Good advice. The only reason I modified the barrel valves was = because I didn't plan to open the engine. This plan didn't work out = because I ended up having to overhaul the engine anyway.
