Greg,

I flew my first 100 hrs like that.  It was acceptable, but still a little
louder than I wanted so I bit the bullet and added the extra pipe and hung a
muffler under the airframe.  Personal preference, but I am glad I did.  Much
more pleasant now on long trips and I get compliments on how quite my RV
sounds.
