My RV-4 originally came in at 950 lbs before painting.  But that did include an extra 15 lb battery.  I haven't weighed again since putting in the Renesis but I think I dropped about 20 - 30 lbs in the process (not just engine weight change).  Had to reduce the max back seat pax weight.  Airplane had negative stability when flown with old max backseat weight of 240 lbs.

Weighed the airplane today. Either my wife and I or the airplane, or both need to go on a diet. 1027 pounds empty. Was hoping for less than 1000. For the RV guys, how did your empty weight come out? Incidently, with batteries in the baggage compartment the CG looks good.

Mike, what airport are you doing your first flight out of?

Not sure I really wanted to read the bit about after takeoff engine failure at this point. Too close to first flight to have that put in my head. I'll probably appreciate this a lot more after I get some flight hours under my belt.
