Rusty,
My reading of the article says that the duct is fixed and they are simply
changing the angle of the radiator and increasing the area to fill the available
space at a given angle. This says that for angles near 90 degrees
there is little change in area and therefore the flow loss is not
compensated. The opposite case where the radiator is nearer parallel to
the airflow, the change in airflow is probably minimal (since the air is making
an almost 90 degree angle direction change) but the area of the radiator
increases dramaticly with only small changes in angle. This would explain
the graph shown.
Jeff
Greetings,
If anyone has an RD-1C for
sale, I may be interested in buying it. I've got one (yes another one) on
order with Tracy, but the production date is way out there in
October. If someone has one available sooner, at a lower price, I'd
certainly be interested.
Cheers,
Rusty (single rotor still
possible for RV-3)
