The current rotaries are way over square with a very short stroke (no torque to speak of) And the rotor/crank gearing going the wrong way. I never saw one dynoed that low but I suspect about 100 HP would be a available with a struggle. Perhaps the new X-16 will do a better job with its longer stroke.
 
 I had thought about brazing about 1 1/2 rotors together  to get about 1 1/2 engines in a two rotor layout. Folks are already cutting down 13B rotor housings to make 12A housings, so why not. Then you could get maybe 150 HP in a direct drive unit.

Sure, that can work but why not something completely different?   I want to see someone do a direct drive 2 rotor (maybe even turboed) in the right application and the RV-3 comes close.   That would be Kool!
