I came across this Naca report and while I do not personally have an interest, I noticed that it addressed how to use vanes in a ducts to overcome some of the problems of ingesting boundary layers.  As Naca reports of that era go the math is not too bad.  But, what may be of particular interest is starting on page 14 where they give examples of ducts divided by different number of vanes and If I understood the math, there are formulas/tables that enable one to determine the separation distances of the vanes including the important one which controls the ingested boundary layer.

Unfortunately the document is too large a file to post to the list, but if anyone is interested, sends me an e mail (yes, please send it to me rather than just posting to the list that you want it-makes it easier to simply attached the document and return it to you).

Ideally, of course you would prefer not to ingest the boundary layer, but not all duct installation designs are idea - other than mine, of course {:>)  This is what happens when I sit around waiting for the weather to lift.

Anyhow, just thought a few of you might be interested
