Hi Chad,
I originally was covered by AVEMCO, but switched when
their rates kept going up the more hours I got. I am now covered by AIG
through SkySmith. If you do try through SkySmith be certain and mention you
are using Real World Solutions products (EC2, Gearbox, etc), SkySmith is aware
of Tracy Crook and the quality of his products. Also, I was able to point
out I had a number of articles published in a number of magazines about
the rotary engine in aircraft. That all seemed to help - I
believe.
Specifically, I had 450 hours flight time, 200 in my
RV-6A, when I went with SkySmith. I do not know whether he will cover
first flights. I have $60,000 Hull and normal liability for less
than $1200/year.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Insurance for
rotaries
Okay, this may be a
touchy subject, I don't know...but, I need to know what I can expect in the
future for insurance if I am going to make this happen.
Are you able to
get insurance? I ask that first, because I've been made aware that
it is very difficult to get for first flight/phase I, and if you get it, it's
VERY expensive.
So, next question...What
kind of premiums are being paid? Hull values?
Where are you getting it,
if you have it?
Thanks!
Chad
