Thanks Mark. $2900 is
quite high in my opinion, but a $100k hull value has a lot to do with that, I'm
sure. Since I'm new here, I don't know what kind of airplane everyone
has...what are you flying?

Chad,
It is my belief that the Lycosaurus folks are propagating the myth that
you can't insure your airplane unless it has a certified engine. I
insured through Sky Smith Ins. I hadn't anticipated having to get
insurance before renting a hangar at the municipal airport, but they wouldn't
rent to me until I had it (with the city named on the policy). So, it
wasn't IF I wanted to insure my project, but that I MUST insure it, or I
couln't move it to the airport. This was "not in motion" coverage.
Later, when I was ready for first flight, it wasn't a problem. And they
covered me from first flight on.
I would highly recommend that you use Tracy's products. That is one
question they asked me and once I confirmed that I was using RWS redrive and
engine controller, the rest was pretty painless. Premium was $2900 for
$100,000 hull value.

Okay, this may be a
touchy subject, I don't know...but, I need to know what I can expect in the
future for insurance if I am going to make this happen.
Are you able
to get insurance? I ask that first, because I've been made aware
that it is very difficult to get for first flight/phase I, and if you get
it, it's VERY expensive.
So, next
question...What kind of premiums are being paid? Hull
values?
Where are you getting
it, if you have it?
Thanks!
