I did have considerable tail dragger time, and a couple of hours of professional instruction in another RV-6, so he was able to insure me fully from the first wheel turn. Runs about $1200/yr for $60,000 hull and lots of liability. Are you able to get insurance?  I ask that first, because I've been made aware that it is very difficult to get for first flight/phase I, and if you get it, it's VERY expensive.
