Well, I don't know if anyone with an RV has stuck in an inverted oil
system
for extended inverted aerobatics but no reason it couldn't be done if you
wanted to.

Lots of RV's have full inverted systems. In fact my old RV-8 had an Ellison
TBI and Christen inverted oil system, and yes, I did fly it upside down :-)

Jim, to answer your question- the tanks are built reasonably early in
construction, and it's fairly easy to install the inverted pick-up at that
time.  It's reallllllly hard to do it later.  That means that lots of people
put it in, even though they will likely never use it.  Ed said he forgot
some of the details.  Trust me Ed, that's why you have it :-)

All that being said, my RV-3B wings were quick-build, and the tanks were
already done, so I won't be installing a flop tube in this plane.  The RV-8
jammed enough blood into my brain, so I'm good for a while :-)
