Monty,
I wouldn't take the chance with a RX8 apex seal going over any sized hole. Their not designed to do that as they are much smaller in height and IMHO they will flex and spit out of the hole. Deeper 2mm slots have been tried, with RX7 two piece but even with a wire cutter there is a small ridge left, which might hang up an apex seal - so I'm going for a 3mm apex seal.
The slot depth is 9.8mm and is just as easily cut with a fly cutter as a wire cutter.

George,

So I take it there is enough meat in the Renesis rotor to make the slot deeper? Somewhere I came across somebody stating that they were too shallow.

Yes 3mm seals are something I have considered also.

Of course I hesitate to cut into a perfectly good $500 part, but now I have a junk rotor to make sure. I also have 6 tries to get the setup right before the good part goes in the mill. ;-)
