Greetings,

My cowl will be here the first of the week, so I took all the new goodies, and spent a rainy afternoon at the hanger today.  Reality has pretty much set me straight on the EWP.  I just have no room to add those pumps.  Removing the water pump housing doesn't really give me any space I can re-use, plus I still have to find a place for my new alternator.  Looks like I'll be staying with the stock pump.

It looks like the new alternator is going to work fine in the stock location, and will probably buy me about 1.5" in height, which is more than I needed to clear the cowl. The downside is that it only has a single belt pulley, and the geometry will be even worse than with the stock alt.  In other words, there will even be less wrap around the water pump pulley than there is now.

It looks like I can use the smog pump mount holes on the back of the water pump housing to make some sort of idler pulley to add a second belt to the water pump.  That will make me feel better.

Once I make a new thermostat housing that has more of a side exit, that clearance problem will be gone as well.

I spent a looooong time staring at my latest intake, and the new throttle body.  For such a small item, my TB sure takes up a lot of space when you think about it.  Once you put the fuel rails on each side, with intake pipes going out the front and back, it's huge.  Thank goodness I won't be adding an EDDIE plenum.  Fortunately, the best (not in terms of ease unfortunately) location to put the TB, will leave the whole right cheek open for an intercooler.  This should make Turbo Tom sleep better an night :-)

Cheers,
Rusty
