Hi Chris,
Actually, cranking the engine without starting it has some positive
aspects. I was able to get the oil pressure up to 40-50 psi by just
cranking the engine prior to first start. That gave me a lot of
confidence that it wouldn't be running without oil to the bearings for
the first few seconds. I also pre-filled the oil filter before
cranking it. Congratulations on the first step.
