Richard, I normally idle at 1800 rpm on my 13B. I can idle down to 1200-1400, but I found out that idling slower with the big prop out front increases the rate of descent to the uncomfortable level for me (on landing). So I set it up so I can not get into that mode of descent - after all, I have replaced the landing gear once (and that's enough) {:>)
