This evening I wanted to check the static rpm with my new exhaust pipes. I reached 6000 rpm. That's about 200 rpm better than before. That's only about 3% improvement, but better than nothing. I was told also that the engine is not broken in yet and should get a bit better. The ram air intake will help a bit too.
My beautiful shiny pipes are dark blue now :(
I had one of the airport bums stand by just in case something smokes or flies off. He was OK during idle, but at full power I saw him backing off with his fingers stuck deep in his ears. But again we were between two close rows of hangars.
My biggest problem now is finding someone to check me out for couple of hours in my plane or one like it.
