Greetings,

The grand prize = may go to=20 Bruce Turrentine, with points to Tracy also.  I called Bruce today, = and the=20 first comment out of his mouth was "are you sure you aren't way retarded = on your=20 timing".  Well, I didn't think so, but after careful measurement, I = found=20 that my original measurement wasn't so careful.  =

Remember that = during my=20 first runs, I though the timing was retarded, and manually advanced it=20 some.  The engine seemed to run better, but after discussing this = some, and=20 believing that I had set it correctly statically, I set it back and = forgot about=20 it.  Well, my static mark was 10 degrees off.  That means I've = been=20 running about 12 degrees BTDC, rather than the normal 22.  =  Think this=20 will make a difference?  Yep, me too.

I ran the = engine briefly,=20 and found that everything has changed, and I'll have to re-tune the = whole=20 thing.  I haven't thought about it enough to explain it, but now = I'm way=20 rich over the range that I can run without being tied down (about 20 = inches=20 MAP).  The mixture knob is close to fully CCW now.  I never = understood=20 how I could run Tracy's parameters and have the correct mixture, = when my=20 injectors were so much larger.   Now if it will just reduce = the boost=20 at full throttle :-)
