Turbo delta T
Hey Rusty;
Since you're on the fence on the turbo, I just thought I'd throw another bit of info at you. Last night I hooked up a Digitron pyrometer to my thermocouples. When I removed the switching valve from my exhaust manifold (before turbo), it left me with a hole to plug, so I tapped it and installed a TC. I put a second TC about 14' downstream of the turbo.
I was expecting a few hundred degree temp drop, but was very surprised to see 600F drop across the turbo. I've previously checked both TC's for accuracy. I'll switch both TC probes again just to confirm this, but last night it was too hot to make the swap.
I know your installation only has a very short exhaust pipe exiting out the side of the BUC, so this may not make much difference to you, but for my installation, where the pipe takes a longer path on it's way to the muffler, I'm pleased about this. This could also explain why my homemade SpinTech muffler still looks the same today as when I made it.
Just another point to consider...
