I always go for the simple solution. Heated up the tube with a torch
and bent it the required amount. Down side is the cad plating is
ruined. I don't think the increased risk of rust in this application is a
big factor : )

I am trying to adapt the 2nd gen oil pan to the Renesis using
Fred's plate.
So far so good.
I am using the 2nd gen pickup as
well. I have fabbed a stand off out of
1/2 inch aluminum to
compensate for the plate thickness, so the height is
fine.
Now the
problem. There is a few degrees difference in the mounting flange
on
the two pickups which works out to about 3/4 inch at the end of
the
pickup. This causes the pickup to hit the cover over the oil
level switch
in the 2nd gen pan.
I need to either bend the tubing on the
pickup or modify (cut) the cover
over the switch.
If I bend the tubeing,
I plan to fill the tube with sand to prevent crushing
and squeeze the bend
out slightly in a vise while heating with a torch.
I do not know if cutting
the switch cover would provide the necessary
clearance even if I did
it. I still need to check this out.
Does anyone have any guidance
here. Which option do you like and how would
you go about
it?
BTW... I plan to seal the hole in the bottom of the pan where the
engine
mount goes by sandwitching JB Weld between two large area 1/4
washers held
together with a 1/4 inch bolt.
The two holes on the edge of
the pan I will seal by filling the holes in
Fred's plate with JB
Weld.
Does anyone have a visually cuter idea?
