Hi Rusty,  just got back from the delayed Lakeland RV fly-in.  Great fun & nice flight.  Did a maximum performance climb-out on departure which prompted the tower to ask what was under the cowl : )

The RD-1 input shaft spline is same as stock Ford C6 input shaft.  There were 2 versions (30 and 31 teeth).  RD-1x  uses the 30.

Subject: [FlyRotary] RD-1C input shaft designation?

Greetings,

I guess this is mostly to Tracy, unless someone else knows.  What's the official designation of the input shaft on the RD-1C drives?  I presume it's known as a (some number) spline (some size) diameter, or someting like that.  Is it the same as what was used on any particular vehicle?

I've seen some dampeners available commercially, but I need to know which one would fit the input shaft.  I'm looking into getting an X-ACT Streetlite flywheel as a test as well.  It's about 11.5 lbs, and uses the auto counterweight.  I'll be doing some measuring today, while I'm out at the hanger moving tools and such back to the garage for RV-8 construction.

Thanks,
Rusty (shut up Thomas <g>)
