I have identified the local supplier and MSD
are indeed cost effective.
I have selected a 38lb (2018) primary and a 50
lb ( 2013) secondary for the single.
It may be wishful thinking but I don't want to run
lean at 7,500 rpm. The 2x 400 cc ( 38lb) runs out of puff at 121hp and I'm
hoping for a tad more than that with the PP and RX8 rotor. In the end it may
only be 125hp but the combination will reach 140hp within the 80 % duty cycle so
I figure I'm safe from running lean.
Question
is how come these are cheaper than the mazda and other
known brand injectors - I expected them to cost more.

Hi George,
You've chosen well. I've used those exact two
injectors types in the RV-3. The current config is 4- 38 lb/hr injectors,
which idle better, and still have plenty of fuel capacity for full
power. The 50 lb/hr injectors worked just fine as well, though they didn't
idle as well. I'll probably use two of the 50 lb/hr injectors in the
single rotor, since I have them available, and I won't be trying to get a low
idle.
As for the price difference, I just assumed that
anything sold through a carmakers parts dept will be way more expensive
than it should be. I'm sure the MSD injectors are used in some cars as
well, and if you could figure out which ones they are, I'd bet their parts
dept has a much higher price on
these.
Also note that the electrical connectors are readily
available, and cheap. That was one of my other gripes about using the
Mazda injectors. In some cases, it's impossible to get a new
connector, so you're dealing with junkyard
parts.
Cheers,
