True again! when the old style ( read smaller) flexplates became too scarce
Ross had his own lightened flywheel made to the smaller size which is
exactly the manual flywheel size. When you start getting into lightened
flywheels you get into another area where different balance weight have to
be selected or motor balancing requirements.

Making a bellhousing to accommodate the larger auto flexplate is a nightmare
because of the limited space available . I would have much preferred to use
a lightened ( manual) flywheel but Butch insisted that it comply with
current usage and that's the auto flexplate.

I blame Tracy for this, in my opinion he should have stuck with the smaller
size ( tongue in cheek).
