Todd,

I went to the first 13 shuttle launches and a couple Saturn moon shots.  I usually spent my time on the west side of the river. Great view of the launch. There is now a hotel there so you would have to get a room to view from there. The best shots were night or when there is a lot of humidity. The sound and atmosphere make the launch much more exciting. (It is louder in high humidity)  You can see the sound rippling across the river as it approaches you. The ground shakes and night turns to day as it lights off.

Looks great Bernie;
It's surprising that's as close as they let anyone, however I'd imagine
that you can still feel the earth shake from there. I have a loong list of
things that I'd like to do in this life (everyone needs to have one) and
witnessing a shuttle launch live is on there. Perhaps one year I'll be able
to fly my own plane down to the Rotary Round-up and coincide it with a
launch date.
How are the general public bleachers in comparison, or is there even any
permitted general public viewing?

Todd
