That’s what I was thinking, but not
being in the auto repair business since the 70’s, I thought there might
be some current makes that I don’t know about that do it differently.

Most of the EFI cars have at least a
"lift" pump, if not the actual high pressure pump, in the fuel tank
to prevent vapor lock.
